From my days at school.

Trousers: Levi Sta-prest (not those cr@p re-issue's recently)
Shirt/Top: Fred Perry (or Arthur Black for the Glaswegian)
Shoes: Leather brogues or Weedgie's (Norwegian Loafer shoes) - tassles optional.
Jacket: Harrington or Black Crombie.

Would still wear one or other (not all at the same time tho' ) nowadays.

And yes, I have forgotten about the platform shoes in 1st year.

Oops!, better add a car bit before it gets binned:

And one git in school had a white Triumph Stag to top it all off (at 17!).

2 strap bag but only using one, because if you used both of them, you were "gay" or "mongey"(no offensive, but that was the term used when i was in school)

Oh also having a 2P coin in the knot of the tie so when anyone would try to "penut" you the knot wouldn't cut the circulation of blood to your brain.

not lacing up your shoe laces and putting them inside the shoe as laced up laces were (as described above) "gay"

And if i can remember correctly the fashion in them days (i sound old already) were to have a record bag that would only hold about 2 of your books and used to have a logo of World Dance, Bluebird Records or Unity on the front.

I wore a Eissenger jacket for a year or so then grew out of it. They then became fashionable.

I wore a pair pod's for a year or so, wore them out. Then they became popular.

I'm not saying I'm a trend setter, just a bloody unlucky sod!

"Head" bag carrying approximately 30lbs of stuff, to be carried over one shoulder. Rugby boots to be left permanently in the zip-off section, for the purposes of gbh.

neon socks but different colours on each foot
drainpipe striped jeans
Ra-ra skirts
reversable padded jumpers (I had a dalmations one)
checked jeans (aka rupert the bear style)

Hair
short from the front, but with a longer bit at the back which you usually plaited I did have it done

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head

A folder covered in stickers at junior school but rave flyers in senior school.

Knee length socks concertined at the ankle.

Tie done up so the thin bit was at the front.

Picking the thread out of the tie as well

Streaching the jumpers by pulling them over the knees or my mates pulling on the sleeves. Also picking a hole in the sleeves for your thumb to fit through aiding the "sleeves over hands" trend.

No, not a mullet. Piece of hair at the back would be no more than a cm wide, and then totally short everywhere else.

school - rat tail and coloured bits on your hair when i was a child (nuns at school didn't like it, but couldn't complain as i was such a nice nice little girl). Skirts lengtt under your knee (got sent back home coz my skirt was too short... would only be accepted back at school if i had a long long skirt. Times change). I guess the rest of the world was wearing eighties flashy stuff.

high school - military boots, bomber jackets (u call them that way?). If you were a skin head, boot lace coding and white socks. Not nice times in my town.

Yes, this was my era - early '90s?

Add to that:
-The first Puffa jackets - seriously pumped up to make Michelin Man look like an anorexic. You couldn't actually put your arms by your sides.
-Black trainers - Vans were coolest, but the whole idea of these were that they were 'stealth' trainers- teachers didn't notice them.
-Either those or 'Caterpillar' boots. Supposedly built by the people who did JCB's, except that mine fell apart within a few months. Kickers with the Red and Green 'I can't remember which foot is which' tags were the alternative.
-We didn't do the 2p in the tie trick. Instead, the cool thing was to burn the bottom end off and tuck the rest into the top of your shirt. Uniforms changed halfway through my high school tenure, rendering tie tricks obsolete.
-I definately remember the 'one strap' thing. Used to knock displays off the walls with my bag. A few months into that trend a warning went round about kids getting bad backs from doing that, and it suddenly became cool to wear it on two straps again.
-Oh, and a 'Global Hypercolour', 'Eclipse' or 'Spliffy' T-shirt under your school shirt.

Hang about - you weren't at Cheadle Hulme College (nee High School) were you?!
