Can anyone help please? Just back from a week's vacation and the kid's PS3 suddenly won't work. We switch the power button on at the back of the unit and the red light comes on at front. I then press the on button at the front and the green light comes on, very briefly, and it sounds like the unit is trying to power up. Then the powering up stops, the green changes to a yellow light momentarily, followed quickly by a change to the red light which is now flashing.

Anyone have any similar experiences/bright ideas?

Thanks in anticipation....

News to me, never heard of that before. Had a bit of a google around, and found a few references to it, but very little in the way of helpful information (especially the ms fanboys going PS3 RROD LOL FTW etc, etc).
Opinion appears to be split between hardware failure of some kind, and 'you turned it off during a firmware update'.
Only helpful suggestion was:

1st turn main power off at least 15 seconds, then turn it back on again
2nd press the start button, hold till it beeps twice
3rd it must beep twice

Which I presume is some kind of 'return to factory defaults' option. No idea if it'll work, but from the sounds of it, you've got nothing to lose.

Well, many thanks for your help fella, it's much appreciated! Didn't work though frown Won't be buying a 360 - my kids tell me they are utter pants.
