After the G20 incidents, the police should never be allowed near a camera again.

I think there's the possibility he may have been shooting the MI6 building as well.

That doesnt exist of course, you cant see it under normal circumstances due to it being so well hidden and not in any Bond films rolleyes

If that is indeed true, then the police in question exceeded their authority. Once a photograph has been taken, it can only be deleted against the photographer's wishes by a court order.

idiot police never heard of data recovery software? Anyway, they were exceeding their powers and intelligence - again.

ETA Google comes back with 23,000 images when 'Vauxhall tube station' is entered...

If they're suspected of any sort of possible terrorism, why the hell are the police getting them to delete the evidence?

That would be the first line if I was ever challenged to delete photos by officials on those grounds yes "We'll be needing them in court as evidence then, won't we?"

When you allow idiots to make bad laws it is understandable that grunts will use them.

It's beyond fking shocking.

This isn't just about photographer's rights. It's about the essential freedoms that ALL of us rely on to live in a fair and decent society.

fk the G20 morons. We need a thousand guys with BIG CAMERAS to march in London. Taking pictures as they go. Uploading those pictures to the 'net over 3G as they are walking along.

The grunts need to be educated about what is legal and what is not. The anti-terror laws must be abolished. And the great unwashed need to be told that anyone can take pictures of them and their house and there isn't a fking thing they can do about it.

Google Street View is doing us all a MASSIVE favour by bringing this issue into the public arena.

What I don't understand is why the media aren't up in arms about it. They must think they're "special" and their togs are somehow immune. They aren't. And one day one of them will get a crack on the head with a baton. Will it take THAT before they DO SOMETHING!?

I've got a cracking sunset shot of the MI6 building, taken 10 years ago or so from across the river. I dread to think what would happen these days if a bloke on a black bike, in black leathers and lid, pulled up took a couple of snaps and rode offeek

Getting like Egypt - you cannot take photos of bridges, stations, transport links, military installations, poverty etc etc.

It was the same in some places in Russia.

Although you do have the option to "buy" a photography licence from any police who hassle you smile

The biggest harm of terrorism is not a car bomb that detonates and takes people's lives, not the fear about incidents like this, but the general revocation of basic rights to the entire public, lead by the motivation just to do something against terrorism, regardless of usefulness. Read Orwell.
