Just had a renewal letter from BMW.

I had to call them because it looks like the mileage is entered in their system in Km not miles so the web site would not accept my current mileage.

For an E60 M5 with 31K on the clock the Comprehensive warranty quote without breakdown assistance is:

Excess P.a. P.c.m.
0 873 80
100 757 69
250 612 56

Apparently the monthly warranty is just that, it rolls (renews) each month for as long as you want to keep the warranty. There is no annual renewal i.e. it is NOT the annual policy divided by 12.

This information may be useful to someone other than me!

Cheers,
Chris

That seems pretty reasonable...

Same as my Z4M and you have 4 more Cylinders.. frown

I can't understand how they can charge me £873 also when everything on the M5 is surely more expensive?

Your quote seems reasonable... But it makes mine look ridiculous!

Roof, maybe? Are Z4MC and Z4MR quotes similar?

I paid £873 for my E46 M3 warranty in June last year. 873 seems to the standard price for an 'M' car. Mind you I paid £782 for the wife's 2005 530d estate in Feb - so £873 doesn't seem too bad!

With regards to the rolling warranty, I am pretty sure that it is NOT transferable to the next owner which could be an issue when selling.

Good point.

The rolling warranty appeals if nothing else that it is fire and forget (except for the dint in the account each month).

I'm not looking to sell but does anyone know for sure about transfer?

I haven't sorted out the paperwork yet so I don't know.

In the case of a rolling monthly warranty then (as long as the payments are made) the warranty is always up-to-date and so could a new owner pick up the payments and retain it/start a new one since the vehicle has always been warranted?

Not sure if this has been covered in another topic. Apologies if it has. If not, could we sort it out here for future reference?

I read somewhere (maybe on here) that the pay monthly warranty is transferable to a new owner.....

Sounds the same price as or my 535d!

Im in the process of seling my car at the moment (see Pistonheads classifieds under AC Schnitzer), and I was told by the warranty people that the annual policy (ie paid for up front) is transferable but the monthly one is not.

Not sure if the new owner can take out a new monthly policy on his own back though. Im guessing so, but I may phone bmw up later to find out.

Just spoken to BMW Warranty services regarding transfering to a subsequent owner.

If you're on a pay monthly extended policy, the new owner has got until your next monthly payment is due to contact BMW to continue the policy. If this isnt done and it lapses, they will still warranty it, but under different terms (read more expensive)

Hope this helps

If your car is nearing 60k miles, and your mileage in 1 additional year will take it over 60k miles, then it's worth renewing the annual for more than 1 year as you lock in the sub-60k rate for the duration of the number of years you renew for.

Only the annual is transferable.
