No aircon on car i'm thinking of buying...issue?
Discussion
I've found a Cooper 05 plate with panoramic sunroof which i'm thinking of going to view. however it doesn't have air-con. Now none of my cars have ever had it, but I was really expecting that my next car would. However the rest of the car has all the spec i like, so will i regret not getting one with aircon? Do these Minis get particularly hot in summer, or do you know how much it costs to fit after-market?

You can retrofit Auto-aircon to R50/53 MINIs. IIRC it's c1300 quid plus fitting.
The first MCS (R53) I bought had no Chilli Pack but had a/c. The a/c was the only thing that saved me from being well and truly rogered when it came to trade-in time. Needless to say the next one I bought (MCSC)had the Chilli pack!
Likewise, wifey's R56 MCS also has Chilli pack.
Personally I wouldn't touch a car without the Chilli pack or a/c - you pays yours money & takes your choice!

Yeah that's what i was thinking - resale might be harder. However the ad does say it has the chili pack, which is confusing. Was the panoramic sunny an option in place of air-con?
I'm looking for a BRG Cooper, but then read on here that resale of BRG is harder. Thing is, every BRG one i've called up about has already been sold so that can't be true! I think i'll keep looking. Might consider black now too....anyone know where else to look other than Autotrader, dealers and PH?

IIRC a/c did not come with Chilli on a Cooper, only Cooper S.

Air con was not part of the Chili pack until the new model came out!
Personally we'd have prefered the roof to aircon.
Absolutely right - our 06 Mini Cooper (which we bought new) had the Chilli Pack and panoramic roof - seemed pointless spec'ing air-con. Never missed it and car sold easily without mention of A/C.Personally we'd have prefered the roof to aircon.
Our new R57 also has Chilli Pack and comes with A/C as standard. That does seem a bit daft with a convertible!
Suppose it will help to clear the condensation during the dreary winter months!

I have 2 R50 Cooper's. One with a/c, sunroof and Chilli Pack and one without any of those options. I prefer the one without the options. It is faster (no a/c robbing the power), has more headroom (about 3 inches (75mm for those in metric) and has much more comfortable seats(the sports seats give me cramp in my thighs on long journeys). Also the car without the options was £3,000 less to buy with the same mile and at the same age.

Looks like you did well. As you know, the wife's Cooper was written off last November after being rear ended by a couple of 18 year old pillocks in a Corsa......a hell of a wack and an ambulance job for Sue.....sadly not the pillocks.
Anyway, thank God they were insured and after heavy negotiations with their insurers (Norwich Union), they agreed to pay out £9500. Not bad for a June 05 Cooper, 32K miles, chilli pack, a/c.
Enjoy the Cooper...as you say, you still have the Tiv for the top down blats. Hope to see you around soon.
