Looking for contract telecommuting work

I've been involved in the Aerospace/Avionics sector for eight years as a software and systems developer working on some very high profile projects with blue chip clients in the Uk and Germany.

I'm currently looking for engineering and development work that I could take on a telecommuting basis using VPN or some other alternative means.

Does anyone have any experience or information in doing something similar. Any help you can provide would be appreciated, I'm quite open to new business sectors as well as aeropsace.
