Who and/or how do they get allocated to a given car/driver/team ?

The championship co-ordinator issues them. No 27 was originly John Kent's number but passed to me in 1996 when John won the 95 title and became No 1. Numbers are issued on a first come first served basis. No 28 was made famous by JCW and were then passed on to No 29. (smokin 220). Chris Lord was always 43, Fluxie No 11, Shortie No 88 and Colin Blower No 5. PRW is always No 8. Ben is 58 because his sponsor is "Room 58". Lee Caroline is No 38 and may still carry this next year. No 38 dates back to his Mini Stox days.
