A friend needs some help with his research!

Just a few questions for the Phers out there!

How do semi professional garages ( indys ) work out where they want to get their car parts from. What attracts them to the place, is it things like price, delivery, quality etc etc?

How do generic customers go about finding car parts. Is it a case of going on forums or googling ? I assume what attracts them isgoing to be the price?

Thanks alot for any replies smile

Thanks alot paul reminded me - when you do reply can you state whether you're a customer or semi pro please. Thank you smile

As a customer:

If I know what part I want, I'll generally either buy aftermarket over t'interweb or pattern fit parts from my local motor factor.

Customer...

I check prices at local motor factors and go to the dealer only if factors can't source the part.

For less common cars, I join owners' clubs and get source information from their forums.

Speed of delivery and the right part.
He wants to get your car off his lift and start on the next one.
Price not so important as that is passed on to the customersmile
