Am thinking about a new suit, and was wondering whether turn-ups and waistcoats are still fashionable as well as smart?

Couldn't find a clothes forum but no doubt this is in the wrong place.

I think you need to look a little further than Oxfam...

A waistcoat would probably not be considered fashionable but will always be stylish.

I think the last time turn ups were fashionable was my last year at primary school - 1987!

a very eighties thing IMO. also, dust collects in the turn ups (so they tell me) redface

No, get the turn-ups on some nice multi-pleated trousers and set them off with some verys shiny loafers with tassles. I see other people wearing this sort of stuff all the time, so it must be fashionable.

The waistcoat could look classy, but only in the right circumstance and it must be a classically cut suit, not something contemporary. With a monocle and pocket watch, preferably.

Has anybody noticed the dress sense of that faux-Scot fat bellend on The Apprentice - white cuffs/collars, braces etc? Does anybody wear that sort of stuff and thinks it adds any gravitas at all? Or is it just me who thinks it looks like city-boy wannabe?

Don't give a toss about fashion and I wouldn't wear trousers without turnups except for jeans/cords etc. Don't know about waistcoats though.

Never knew there was such thing as fashion in the suits area confused

Turn ups......I have never known anyone to even look closely enough. I couldn't care....

However waistcoat wise, if you plan on looking like this, you will look like a tit imo..
