Enthusiastic driving of my S1 had been creating hiccups where after a bit of a run and not necessarily under load, the engine would seem to suddenly lurch for a second (feels like sudden engine braking). I also noticed some strange noises from the fuel pump from time to time. This had become much more of a regular issue recently and something had to be done.

Having been keeping an interested eye on Elfit and MechaMonkey's similar issues and following a post I found from GreyMrJ, I bought a new fuel pump off ebay (company called airflowmeters) Klicky for 39.99 plus postage. Changed it yesterday along with the fuel filter - bit of a leap of faith as it involved cutting the old wires to the original Bosch pump and re-wiring for the new one.

Took her out for a spin late last night having finished putting it all together.... it was unbelievable how much of a difference it made. The acceleration improvement was astonishing with a real urgency when I put my foot down, miles and miles better than Ive known it. I think a lack of fuel pressure had been a problem for my S all the while Ive had her (nearly a year) and cant believe how much better it is now!! bounce

Just need some decent weather over the weekend to make the most of it! driving
