What's happening with TVR at present?

I ask because i posted in the NW forum that the other day, i passed a house in Lancashire that looked like an old farm with a big TVR logo on the side.

I did wonder if it was some sort of specialist service centre, but on closer inspection it looked more quiet. So i thought perhaps PW's house?

Anyway, someone commented that it was

"Old story this one but it's actually TVR themselves. Small development location where amongst other things they run the support for Multipart, repair electronics and PAS racks."

So, got me wondering now - are TVR still going? And if so, in what capacity?? Is PW involved at all, last i saw he was in Evo with a big green bog monster type machine!

The old factory appears to be a business park with former TVR trimmers trimming TVRs, former TVR painters painting TVRs, M-series production, etc. http://www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/business/business_a...

The barn is TVR. Real TVR. Not really certain what they are doing at the mo but they are still alive in some way.

Possibly. The demise of the company might just be a very elaborate practical joke.

You think?

I remember seeing in Evo that Mr Wheeler still owned a good chunk, if not all of the factory site.

Good for him smile
I wonder what smellypants is up to. Seem to remember, probably wrongly, that buying the company only required one fifth of his dosh or some such. He seemed the keen sort, wanted to have his fingers in many pies.

Definitely no PW involvement at the Wesham TVR location.
The activity down at Bristol Avenue is all being undertaken by mostly Ex TVR workers operating as independants but it makes sense for them all to be in one location as you can take your car there and have it totally rebuilt, from the chassis up, rewired, new suspension, engine work, sprayed and trimmed by many of the people who did the work in the first place. You can even take your classic '70's superbike there to have it sprayed up in original livery.

There will be an article in Sprint in the next month or so about who's in there and what's going on and I'll post a synopsis here for non-TVRCC members information.

I saw in Evo that PW had built a one-off version of one of the older models - looked very smart - think it was for race use.

What a fantastic idea! TVR that brand known for its reliability and build quality!

Could not build them properly when the factory was open? Why not give them another go?

TVR - the only car where the PDI takes 2 weeks "to correct the faults it left the factory with"

TVR - the only car that grows spots from underneath the paint rather like a teenager! Just much more quickly! If you like braille paint........

Strange - mine is a teenager with 112,500 miles on the odo and sports bodywork that's finished to a higher standard than 95% of mass market cars I've seen up close... rolleyes

Now let's see if I can remember. What is it I mustn't feed. Is it tolls? No, that's not right. Strolls? No, definately not. You can't feed a stroll. Trollies? Hmm, that sounds nearly right but why shouldn't you feed a trolley? So It's like tolls, srolls and trollies. I wonder what I mustn't feed.

By the way, what's special about your engine?

From memory -

Forged pistons, high compression to make full use of 98 octane fuel
Big journal crank
Big valves
Some very detailed porting work (the engine builder actually put some material back that Power had hogged out)
Piper camshaft ground to engine builder's spec
New everything (valves, valve guides, rocker gear, rods, ARP bolts etc.).
Every nut, bolt, bracket re-plated.
I think some oil and coolant flow mods, too.
Some stuff I forgot. wink
