I have recently got contact lenses - so now I can buy some decent sunglasses again!

WHat are the current recommendations?

When i got contact lenses i had a spate of buying sunglasses but just stuck to the cheapish (10-20 quid) ones. As i generally end up breaking them, scratching them or sitting on them.

Cheap Sunglasses in the UK still have to meet certain UV standards.

Id love a nice set of Ray Ban Avaitors, but id just end up breaking them.

I've just bought a pair of Persol 2720s which I'm rather happy with. RayBan's are good too.

reccomendations? surely once you get over £30 or so they're all meeting the same standards so its merely a matter of taste.

Personally I hate oakleys, horrible, garish chav things. I like a nice set of quality aviators.

My favourites are made by Serengeti, with a polarised drivers lens, although they also work quite well when your not in the car wink

I'd only ever recommend Oakleys.

I've got a pair of gold ray ban aviators which i really like. My favourite shades were a set of police sunglasses which got stolen in the maldives a couple of years ago, i was gutted.

Another vote for Oakley - They have saved my eyes a few times whilst mountain biking! smile I definitely wouldn't say they were chav though. I haven't seen any chavs or footballers wearing them. Some of their designs are unique and occasionally not particularly nice, but they do your standard sort of sunnies too smile

I lost some Twenties not too long ago - The colour combination was pretty rare, so I was gutted frown Replaced with some polarized Straight Jackets with the HDO lens. A massive improvement in quality!

Raybans with polarized lenses.

Oakleys if you are middle-aged, drive a Subaru and are losing your hair.

Is that for ALL Oakley glasses or were you thinking of a certain style in particular? They are rather varied, and some styles are quite popular among sports people too I believe...

I have 3 pairs of Serengeti's, really can't rate them highly enough, most recent purchase was these last week... Naploli in Espresso with Drivers Polarised lenses

Also have the same ones in Satin Gunmetal with 555NM Polarised lenses and a pair of Vedi in the same colour as the pic above.

Will also recommend Oakleys. Want a new pair for mountain biking, and for sportier use they're just perfect.

I've got Ray-Bans which are my favourite and used pretty much all the time, Oakleys which I use when mountain biking and a pair by Police which are virtually clear and I use in late evenings to knock the glare off the low sun.
Out of the 3 Ray-Bans are what I'd recommend.

The next pair I want are the Kimi Raikonnen special editions by Tag Heur. Not cheap at £250 though.
