R129 SL buying help
Discussion
I'm looking for an R129 SL, for sensibly priced everyday waftability - but have a couple of questions.
Are they ALL considered 'reliable'. I know the general consensus is that build quality dropped off in the late 1990s, but I assume the design of the SL (being pre this period) means that they wouldn't suffer as badly? I was looking for a late 1990s (but have been tempted by a couple of mid 1990s).
The SL320 engines. Where can I read about the differences between the V6 and S6? MPG, drivability and reliability?
Thanks
Max

Max- there are others here who know much better than I do, but a well cared for R129 should not give you any mechanical problems. However it is vital that you check that the electrical systems and especially the roof work (ask to see the roof in operation a few times). It is also pretty important to check that the soft top itself is in good condition- replacments are expensive.
