How would one go about creating a Fridge Magnet?

I remember as a kid there were Badge Makers with a lever you punched the two parts together with a crudely drawn smiley face inbetween! biggrin

Is there such a thing for magnets?

Am I over engineering this? Can you buy circular or hand cutable magnets and stick printed sheet to it? (Bit ccensoredp though!)

Lots of tourist attractions do it - must be easy.

We have a picture of Puggit jnr on a fridge magnet riding a sting ray from the London Aquarium. Done on the spot!

Shouldn't this be in 'engineering' or maybe 'home and diy' - or actually 'photography'?

Loads of places you can get magnets in every shape or size - from small round self adhesive magnetised rubber dots (craft shops) to Ne magnets that'll crush your fingers if you aren't careful. (not such a good plan to give to the kids...) Only as crap as the person making them then!

http://www.first4magnets.com/adhesive-magnets-31-c... a starting point for you...

some you can yes, have a look at the link I added - they've got flexi sheet but really there are so many shapes and sizes I'd be surprised if you couldn't find what you were after. I'd not recommend trying to cut the hard neo magnets as they are bloody difficult to cut (they are ever so slightly poisonous I'm told... though must admit I frequently cut them up)

So what are you planning to do with them? Keep the kids entertained or create interesting ways to leave abusive messages for friends and family as they go for the breakfast milk.

An actual sting ray? If so, that is outrageously cool.

Are you grooming him to one day swim faster than a shark?

Bit off both really...

  • Kids, new Fridge, needs a bit of Artwork and Magnetising! (Next rainy day project)
  • As a side idea, insults for the work Fridge of coursh!
  • Plus I quite fancy a Pirate Magnet for the notice board but the 'internet' want nearly £3.. for a bloody magnet!

Hobby craft sell magnets and also the plastic type frames you can slot things into to make the picture bit of the magnet.

If you are sticking magnets to something you just use a dab of UHU, but the plastic framy things will come with a magnet attached.
