Had to call the AA out tonight - first time in 10 years of ownership !

Car lost all power in the fast lane of the A34. Thought something serious was up at first but discovered fuel wasn't getting through; either the pump or pump relay. I'd just cleaned the car out so all my usual bodge kit wasn't there. AA man wired the pump directly to battery and it seemed OK so looks like relay and I managed to get home. Not the first time the relay has gone. From now on I'll be keeping a spare in the boot !

I usually also have spare wire, can of wd40, tyre weld, set of spanners, throttle cable, fuses, cheap multiheaded screwdriver, electrical tape, small avometer. Usually find problems are electrical in nature. What do others have tucked away in the boot ? Any top tips ?

Personal membership comes in so handy at times - rarely gets used for my cars but has been used several times when I've been a passenger like at last years Ceddar Gorge run when the T350 I was passeneger in blew its 100A fuse!!!!
