In a bid to spark the consultation that we've heard so much about I thought I'd open a thread for those who moan that all people do is moan!

So what's good about the new setup, what do you like about it?

Fire away, and please try and keep it on track and help to give feedback on what's positive about all that's new smile

In order to get my point across, I feel I must invoke the underused Monty Python example of process applicable to making a post in the NEW Lounge:-

Now, before I begin the lesson, will those of you who are playing in the match this afternoon move your clothes down onto the lower peg immediately after lunch, before you write your letter home, if you're not getting your hair cut, unless you've got a younger brother who is going out this weekend as the guest of another boy, in which case, collect his note before lunch, put it in your letter after you've had your hair cut, and make sure he moves your clothes down onto the lower peg for you. Now,--
WYMER: Sir?
HUMPHREY: Yes, Wymer?
WYMER: My younger brother's going out with Dibble this weekend, sir, but I'm not having my hair cut today, sir. So, do I move my clothes down, or--
HUMPHREY: I do wish you'd listen, Wymer. It's perfectly simple. If you're not getting your hair cut, you don't have to move your brother's clothes down to the lower peg. You simply collect his note before lunch, after you've done your scripture prep, when you've written your letter home, before rest, move your own clothes onto the lower peg, greet the visitors, and report to Mr. Viney that you've had your chit signed.

I rest my case

Or maybe they don't visit The Lounge. Either way this thread hasn't quite taken off yet.

I haven't been here long, and I've only just been allowed to start posting in the P and P bits, so whatever I say will have no credibility, but you know how the Internet it - I just can't help myself!

I think its a shame that those who are at least ambivalent about the new layout aren't being more vocal as it would be nice to have a more balanced view of the situation. Having said that, I guess its human nature to resist change and because of that it seems that there's more against than for at the moment. I just wish those that are against would give the new layout a fair go. Without doing that, their opinion seems based on nothing very concrete and that's got to be a loss for future debate.

Define "fair".

24 hours?
24 days?
A year?

After 24 hours I'm still angry, upset, fed up and thoroughly cheesed off with what has happened - and very worried about PH's future.

P&P was good because you could dip in when there was nothing on TV and find a few topics that interested you and/or you could add to. However the downside was that it was so popular that posts quickly disappeared from page one - and yes, there was a lot of rubbish there too.

By taking the most popular subjects (eg I suggested a DIY forum at least a year ago) and giving them their own new forums means that if you want advice about, say, fencing, then you're more likely to get a better concentration of sensible answers I think.

In short, I don't mind either way. And of course, not so many years ago there was not P&P either - it was all in General Gassing.

It's not as good - it's like having friends for dinner but having separate small rooms for each topic of conversation.

This is probably in the wrong thread.

clap Simpotwo - you have hit the nail on the head for me. More targetted forums raises the quality of information present in them.

And the lounge is still like the old P+P FFS...

I really really cannot understand what all the antagonism is about. Times change, things move on. It is not like this is something really important, like the design of a baby incubator, is it?

C'mon Eric, don't take it so hard. Give it a bash with an open mind - the content hasn't changed, just the way you view it. You used to click 'P&P' for a list of random musings and chat - now just click another link instead for the same content - sorry - I know you know this of course, but give it a bash - it's not worth fretting about. I agree that from the forum clicker perspective that things look very different but to accomplished 'whats new' clickers it works better than before to be honest.
Each to their own though and all that - try to get over the natural resistance that we all have to change and start afresh - if there's a complaint I'd say it was badly rolled out as there was no proper warning or explanation, how less erked would people be now if they had been 'sold' the change rather than have it thrust upon them.
