Hi All,

I bought a M3 a couple of days ago and noticed when at a stand still, in S5, Sport mode on hit the accelerator and it does not start to move until about a second or so later. Like there is a delay? Is this normal? Its not losing traction or losing time to get traction.

Not normal imo.

Something wrong with your drive-by-wire throttle or SMG clutch perhaps?

that's not normal to have a second's wait before accelerating, mine is instantly responsive from a standstill no matter how much throttle.

try resetting your smg. drive along at 40mph, put it into neutral and pull both paddles for 5-10 seconds. see if that makes a difference

I'll try resetting it. Once it starts moving its breath taking! Its almost like the delay you get with autos (Kick Start).

There's no delay on mine, however gear change from 1st to 2nd from standstill more than often than not can sound incredibly harsh, and you'd have to rev the nuts off it to get it going, which in turn sounds very noisy/stupid. Is this just part of the 'naturally aspirated high revving engine' process?

I've heard of delays before like this and also had it on my previous M3.

I normally just reset the smg and its fine for a fair few mths.
