Does anyone have a recommendation for a FREE image resizing tool that preserves ALL EXIF information in the resized image? JAlbum maybe?

I have geotagged images from my 12mpx camera at around 9MB. Too large for Panoramio - max 5MB. I'd like to reduce them to a couple of hundred K and a much smaller size for upload. Normally I would use the excellent RoboGeo for this but Panoramio doesn't work with it.

Handy piece of software, it's the one I use for previewing all my NEF files which for reasons known only to Nikon and M$ wont display properly in Windows Explorer

RAWs don't display because they're not actually images. However you can download a Microsoft Powertoys app which will do it (.NET framework malarkey)

I dont really understand it, but from what I gather the D80 NEFs work with Windows Explorer presumably via RAW Thumbnail Viewer or similar, and I can see them fine. The D300 NEF's on Vista 64 just wont have it. Seems to be a common thing, but I'll check your link, thanks!

To add a little more to the pot, CaptureNX2.2 seems to need a specific .NET part that when updated throws a complete wobbly if it cant find it, and only does that at point of saving. Not useful when you've been editing for an hour and the only way out of it is CTRL F4

I suspect that's more to do with Vista than D300 NEFs. I have XP Pro, and D300 NEFs show fine with RAW Thumbnail Viewer (which was the Powertoys app I meant but couldn't remember!)

Vista AND Capture NX? The two hell-hounds of the software underworld. NX is (IMHO) the biggest crock of poo since the steam-powered aeroplane. Try Lightroom 2.

hehe

I like it! The ability to apply native Nikon settings specific to my camera or any other Nikon is quite useful, and I find it easier (and cheaper) to get along with than LR2. Control points work well, and plugins (especially Color Efex Pro) are easy to configure. Granted it's no Photoshop, but it's not pretending to be for what I use it for

Sorry Don, went well away from what you were asking

No problems, mate. Your previous answer helped me find a tool that did just what I needed!

I can now contribute images to Panoramio at a reasonable size that retain their geotag. Happy man. biggrin
