PistonHeads At Le Mans 09

PH camping now full, additional site released today

Keep the noise down chap, we're trying to have a BBQ
Keep the noise down chap, we're trying to have a BBQ
Earlier this year we announced that PistonHeads was joining forces with 1st-Tickets to offer Le Mans 09 camping for PistonHeads readers. We received a fantastic response to this and I am pleased to announce that the campsite is now full.

However, the team at 1st-Tickets have agreed to release pitches on a new PH area in addition to the existing secure camp site.

While it may lack some of the facilities provided on the original site - a fact that is reflected in the camping prices - it still offers all the assurances you need when choosing who to book with. Details are as follows:

Standard camping on Bleu Nord

Reserved 7m x 5m pitches

Toilets and showers

5 minutes walk to the circuit

A ticket-only pitch is available from £96 if four share a car, and £112 for two sharing.

More details can be found here, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Hi White-Noise,

There are no plans for a band in the PH Area.

Sounds like the ACO could be panicking a little early.............bookings must be down this year.
They are not normally this accomadating!Or perhaps the reason is because of the down sizing of Houx Annexe and no more room in Houx. Que sera!!Not long now.

Its not just them PCGB has 50+ spaces left (25 cars)I think every booking is going to be down this year. As they all have set cost to cover.Maybe they could have made things smaller to lower the price for the event.

Ironic that you put "Keep the noise down chap, we're trying to have a BBQ" under a picture of a diesel Peugeot.

Based on the posts today, we thought it best to post some clarifications.

The additional site is on the standard Bleu Nord camping area and is sourced from our existing stock of numbered pitches on Bleu Nord. We have made these spaces exclusively available to PH Members as a result of the excellent response and quick take up of PH/1st-tickets secure camping area. This will help those PH Members those that missed out on the secure camping area to still be able to camp with fellow PistonHeads.

To date we have experienced a healthy level of sales for all campsites, parking and grandstands for 2009. We have a only limited number of pitches available at the Bleu Nord, Expo and Beausejour campsites and a handful of grandstand and parking options remaining.

For more information about the PistonHeads camping, grandstands or parking options please contact us on 01767 680119.

Many thanks

With regards to "Toilets and showers"......

Are these for exclusive use of PHers, or are they the standard facilities that the ACO supply?

If I am being honest and rather selfish then it might be nice if bookings were a little down and the fact that they were down was that the chav element had decided to stay at home!

I agree. This year is something of a test case for us. If the Chav's are still such a strong presence, we will be elsewhere next year (after 13 trips!)

What facilities are there for parking? I am thinking of driving over with the Exige, but want to have some peace of mind while I'm there.

Also, is there a map of the place? The campsite names mean nothing to me as I've never been there before.

At the campsites each pitch is 7m by 5m and you park your car next to your tent on the pitch. The Bleu Nord campsite is numbered pitches, which means that your pitch is there for you at whatever time you arrive.

Here is a link to a map of the circuit: http://www.1st-tickets.co.uk/images/circuitmap.pdf
The Bleu Nord campsite is grid ref 25AD to 29AG

I'm actually not entirely sure which area I'm on? I booked in February with 1st tickets, but didn't actually specify PH over the phone! Apart from being in Bleu Nord, I'm not sure where exactly I am (nothings changed...)! Not that it matters too much...

We've checked your booking details and you are on the normal Bleu Nord. Based on your post we have updated your records and put you with other PH Members on Bleu Nord.

If there are other PH members out there that have booked with us on Bleu Nord, we can do the same

White Noise,

I've already paid up for my pitch in Blue something . . . (nord I think) however we would be prepared to pay an additional sum to a charity of your choice to be able to mix with the other PH's on you selective camp sites and enjoy the cash bar and general banter etc . . .

then we'll head back like loney dogs to the pikeys back at our site!

Not wanting to be a misery but surly the PH/1st Tickets camp site and its 'exclusive' facilities should be for those of us who have booked and paid for them. nono
