Actually I think it's a good idea wink

Hopefully the mods are not averse to combining forums that prove quieter or have overlap (I suspect the News/Current Events and Politics/Economics one will have a lot of overlap).

Cheers thumbup

Yes absolutely. We'll be keeping a close eye on how stuff performs and will combine as we see fit. Before anyone asks, no we won't be combining everyting into a new "pie and piston" single forum. rolleyes

Not a fan. Dilution of forums to this extent really takes away from the usefulness of the site.

I've given medical advice when a topic has covered an area I have also suffered from. I've given holiday advice when someone is asking about somewhere I've been and I have chipped in to political topics when the subject covers an area I've worked in. I wouldn't specifically have visited any of these forums.

TBH just tried finding my way around, and (could just be old dog + new tricks etc) but its not working for me ...

perhaps i need to give it some time.

Technically its definitely a bit of a pain when PH's average ping rate for me is about 400ms, its slow already (because of my location rather than PH technology, those hamsters still do a great job), and now i wind up going through many more pages!

I'm hoping that the site will revert to being more about cars than 'my ex is a psycho!' or 'I called a disabled kids dad retarded, what should I do?' web site.

Sooner all the people with no interest in cars fk off, the better as far as I'm concerned. thumbup

This is absolute pony - the whole appeal of the P&P was it's diversity.

You know, sort of like you get somewhere like, a pub?

You could always try... the pub? This is a motoring website... apparently handbags.com may have what you need if the pub is too scary?

Why do you read the P+P then? There are dozens of other forums (within Piston Heads) to talk about cars, this one is for talking about retarded kids and ex-girlfriends.

What are you doing in this sub forum then? I couldn't give a fk about the latest Nissanoytaburu so stay out of the Japanese sub forum. It's not hard.

Try the pub... at work? This is a website were mature individuals with a common love of motoring can share views on other topics as well. It's just become more difficult to do so.

Lol... you seem to post and contribute to quite a few non-motoring topics.

Have to say i agree with this ....

Yes Splitting out the
  • What car?
  • Pedal Powered
  • Watches
  • Boats
  • Computers
  • Political Rants
  • Photography stuff
and some others definitely works,

But you are going to concentrate the responce group too much and miss out on some very usefull contributions that would otherwise get missed.

as ever, just my $0.02 etc etc etc.

Fully understand why some pruning was necessary, but i thing that this may be too aggressive. Anyway, time will tell!

I'm in the "I don't like it camp".

The whole point of the old P&P for me was the variety of discussions on offer, some of which would spark my interest and others that did not.

Now, I've got to know what I'm interested in before browsing, if you get me.

Yours,

Irked of Aberdeen

I don't like the new layout. I thought things were just fine the way they were.

Too many sub forums now imo, which people will not look in as opposed to just keeping it all in the pie and piston as one forum.

I,m very much into cars but i do like the diverse range of topics this site has to offer which are non motering related.

When i have a certain car i will post on that models forum, i just sold my evo but would frequent the mlr for everything evo as asking here would not have the same response, i would say this site is more general motoring and then the legendary pie and piston, which like has been mentioned is like a pub but without the idiots.
