Well,

what can I say, just had the call from the RAC inspector who went to look at my prospective M purchase and I'm well impressed

Went for the "performance car" inspection (50 gazillion check points, or something like that)

The amount of things this guy pulled up that wouldnt have even occured to me to pick on were unreal!

(though glad to say nothing that would stop me buying it)

So, RAC inspection well recommended

Thought about getting one done on a vehicle in Northern Ireland. from memory i think the cost was about £250.00 for the detailed inspection. Seems like a lot of money, but if it prevents you buying a lemon, then its probably worth it.I guess the cost could also be bartered out of the asking price, if the inspection turns something significant up.

Be carefull though.

I enquired about one of these once and asked about accident damage. They stated that if they thought it had been repaired properly they wouldn't tell me! Very wierd. I would hope it would pick out EVERYTHING.

I must say I am annoyed in Jan I asked about an inspection and was told they did not do them and I was then directed to Green Flag , who had stopped doing them about a year ago !

Bizzare!

Re the accident damage thing, I would doubt the guy I spoke to would leave that out - he picked some minor paint work on it (and I mean MINOR) that I didnt spot!

I'm going to write commending the guy, cos' I feel people are normally very ready to complain but the same cannot be said about compliments when someone does a good job
