Hi,

This is my first post on here.

I have an E46 M3 coupe (2003) and am considering getting a performance chip fitted to the car. Has anyone done this and if so what are the pro's and con's and who did you use? How is power delivery effected and what does it do to fuel economy?

Cheers,

Ian

Don't bother.

If you get someone with lots of M3 experience and they remap your car whilst it is on the dyno, you might get a fraction more top end and better/smoother bottom end torque. They would also remove the limiter which might make it worthwhile to you? An off the shelf 'chip' on an engine like the M3s is more likely to lose power than gain it.

Just avoid!

I have the z4M and access to one of the best chip tuners in the country (m8 of mine) and I wont be bothering! I cant see the benefit in further stressing an NA engine thats already producing so much power.

Chipping M3's is like pissing in the wind, pointless, and you might get your shoes wet

Chipping with AMD (have they gone bust?), DMS or similar are worth while if you are carrying out other 'free flowing' mods i.e. Dave F kit, GruppeM, Carbon intake etc for the engine bay and a full exhaust system. Maybe some cams also.

I wouldn't bother chipping on it's own.
