Having looked at my old (saab) servo its quite clear that a replacement will be needed soon. Having looked at Richard Jarvis's greymrj magnum opus on the subject I have thought that a plate fitted to the inside of the pedal box with the new holes would be ideal and, having a spare pedal box available I intend to see if I can get such a plate cut/drilled locally. To that end I have used some trial CAD software to create a better diamgram, which I can email as a word document to any one interested, just let me know

But I am going to see if I can get it made locally at a reasonable price so will report back with the price and see if anyone is interested in buying one as well.

How thick is it?

If it is under 25mm then get it laser cut as that will do all the holes etc usual tolerance is +/- 0.2mm. It will be cheaper per part the more you have done especially if you fill a 2000x1000mm sheet. Apologies if I am teaching you to suck eggs but run a fab shop.

Might be worth just double-checking those dimensions before you have one made! smile

Norm,

Taking Spludge's comment above, I still haven't got round to changing mine so have an XR2i servo sat in the garage. If you want to email me the document then I'll print, cut out and fit up to the actual part to check for size for you this weekend.

Norman, dimensions look to be out by a factor of ten so you might end up with something rather smaller than you need!

I presume the plate is just to reinforce the bolt holes - I don't have accurate figures to hand but I would disagree - the measurements look OK to me for a reinforcing plate where the 4 securing nuts hold the servo on.

Yes I assumed the dimensions were Cm's where most engineers use mm's (or inches and thou yikes) but accounting for that it looks about right to me.

Ken the dimensions are correct I have just remeasured my old pedal box BUTthe orientation is from the engine side of the bulkhead. The intention is to fit the plate on the footwell side to reinforce the bulkhead so it needs 'flipping' on its vertical axis but as the outside dimensions are symetrical thats OK

I hav odered one to be made up as a sample, if it fits them I will be able to get them made and posted for about £20 (cheaper if we can order a batch!)

Will report back
