"Nooooooooo Sttttttttttooooooooooppppppppppppp!!!" is unlikely to prevent the car hitting a wall if you make an error on a track day wink

It will control bluetooth phone for voice dialling - you have to pre-record the names yourself though. Also controls some basic sav nav commands.

Off the top of my head

"dial number" then speak the number and confirm with ok / cancel
"save number" (think this lets you save a name which you then do 'dial name')
"note" (stores a voice memo)

"petrol stations at location"
"hotels at location"
"map"
"range (something) metres" (try feet/yards but don't think that worked)

Is "voice control" an additional option or does it come with bluetooth and sat nav options? If its fitted, what do you press to activate it?

Cheers

If you hold down the "talky" button on the steering wheel for a few seconds, you'll hear a beep. This means you have voice control - if the bluetooth dials immediately or nothing happens then it is not fitted.

From memory it came included with Bluetooth from 2004 onwards, before then it was a paid option. Pretty sure it didn't depend on sat nav. It was not enabled or orderable on the convertible.

..unless you bought my '04 M3 convertible which had it working just great, thanks to a tech at a certain BMW dealer wink

I've got an 05 M3 convertible with factory fitted blue tooth & satnav. Does that mean voice control is fitted but not activated/"enabled"? Would you mind letting me in on the secret behind how you got yours to work, PM me if you don't want to say on here?

Cheers smile

Yeah, I'd be interested to know too. Why would you not be able to use it on convertibles? Afterall, its not like something will active when someone shouts "W***ER!" at you in summer! hehe

The actual instructions are probably lost in the mists of time but it revolves around the technician recoding the car's configuration so that it has the "Voice control" option enabled. Then they recode the Bluetooth module which somehow programs it to enable the Voice Control functions (which are all part of the same module past 2004-ish).

This may cost you some money or some beers depending on the relationship with the dealer wink
