M6 was delivered to work yesterday morning and it had to wait in the carpark for most of the day. So at 10.00pm I finished up and got in it to drive my usual route home which includes some great NSL roads which are pretty deserted at that time (Leeds to Ilkley for those who know the area).

Bloody hell - the acceleration of the thing is like nothing I've ever driven before. Still not really played with all the settings but I get the feeling me and this car and I are going to get along very well indeed.

I thought my 911 was quick but this thing is in a different league.

CONGRATS!!!!

People still don't believe me when I say the M6 feels quicker than a 996 Turbo to me! :-)

Assume you had the car in P500 mode when you did that...

Settings - P500 Sport, S5, as a minimum for your M button.

If you want to have the S6 function then you need to disengage DSC, I haven't bothered for the road.

If you have a bluetooth phone best thing to do is delete ALL pairings first before pairing your phone. If you have an iphone make sure the garage put the latest iDrive updates on and that your iphone is running software 2.2 or above to get full phonebook download on to iDrive.

If you don't have it ipod integration works well (although track, artist, playlist lists are headed under CD1,CD2,CD3 headings which is a bit naff)

Logic 7 - I always have it in concert mode.... get Best of Bond and listen to "nobody does it better" Bond theme at loud volume to really get the most amazing clarity and sounds from the system :-)

Enjoy.... and don't forget to have the car in P400 most of the time to ensure you get the full effect of Jekyll and Hyde when you need it!

Well done, well done indeed, it's a remarkably select club. hehe

Mine's in tomorrow for a new sub chin (offside) following an unexpected annexation of some Lilliputian communists and a quick pad check, on which subject (brakes, that is,) I must commend BMW since they have worn remarkably well considering their humble (twin pot) characteristics.

Then again, they are large.

Dubbs, I can't believe you don't disengage the tractor beam... wink

Grrr...driving

Der - I prefer to lure them in... nothing better than "making progress" then deciding to press the button and feeling the attitude of the M change... to the poor contestant it seems less like you're going to warp and more like you have a cloaking device... One minute you're there... the next... LOL!!

Maybe I just watched too much streethawk/knight rider/airwolf/blue thunder as a kid...

Now.... if only the M button could be a +200bhp instead of +100bhp.... biggrin

Is M6 ownership exclusively limited to tech nerds, trekkys, and people that think that think that it is in some way clever to fill their sentences with strings of words that haven't been spoken since Edwardian times?

Egad! An urchin!

I don't know but it should be. Apart from the 'Trek' thang; I'm all for a bit of whale mind melding but attending conventions in Palm Springs in the hope of meeting the guy in the red tunic who was weekly canon fodder only moments after beaming down onto Planet X by the spittal of some deadly flower?

Do me a favour. hehe

No more than M3 ownership being exclusively limited to basball cap wearing, sunday football playing spivs that think it is in some way clever to hack down the high street at 90mph with their Rockford Fosgate upgrade blaring "anfums" out of the half open tints on the way to the local boozer for three pints of wife beater, before driving back to the council estate before the girlfriend get home from the shelf stacking night work and notices they've left step-daughter Chardonnay on her own with the electric hair straighteners again... wink

That's pretty much a day in the life of a E36 M3.

Sob - such a shame... maybe we should start an E36M3 protection league where we rescue them and turn them all in to trackday specials before sending them off to the wildes of the corner apexes... where nature intended ;-)
