I really cannot believe what is going on in London and it seems the police are truly helpless to do something about it...
I just spoke to my younger brother (who is 15) and he tells me that he was in a park in north west london where he witnessed the aftermath of a street robbery where the robbers, not getting any money from the victim, set him alight!!!!!
And, this is the hard bit to swallow, they are only a similar age to my brother. I don't know whether the bastards where caught or not as the brother himself was informed by police and other witnesses.

And the all the government seems to be bothered about is collecting the fines for speeding and other driving related misdemeanors!!

What a load of bollocks. The worst bit is you can't even take measures to protect yourself (see carjacking thread). Makes you consider a stay in prison just to ensure that the next ba$tard that tries that shit with you will be either 6 foot under or in hospital for a very, very long time...God knows he'll deserve it.

I couldnt agree more. These to$$ers should forefit any rights they have when they break the law like this. It is very sad when you cannot protect yourself or your property in any way without getting punished worse than the lowlife who attacked you. But I suppose it would cost more money to do anything about it and this would give them less money to spend on "life saving" cameras

I think the term for those areas is "up and coming"

There's no quick fix for this. We've let our inner cities turn into such depraved sh*tholes that many of the kids who grow up there gets so messed up they think this kind of behaviour is okay. They treat people this way because they have got used to being treated that way themselves which is tragic.

I have no idea what you do to regenerate these areas. In the short term the rest of us need some protection. I'd be happy to see more plod patrolling in cars or on foot, more CCTV and more people having a go when they see an incident. I can understand why plod say you shouldn't get stuck in coz they can't be seen to be encouraging people to take a risk, but nonetheless I think we owe it to each other to take that chance.

I had my wallet pinched as I was getting out of a cab in north London by a bunch of teenagers. I chased them on foot and a couple of pedestrians helped out. Eventully a couple of the w*nkers pulled out knives so we had to back off, but by that point they were looking pretty sh*t scared too. I don't think they had gone out looking to thieve something. it was one of their group showing off who actually grabbed my wallet. Maybe the thought that people won't just stand back will make them think twice about doing it again.

on a more serious note, there was a story in the paper today that mentioned that the police had found a badly burned boy (about 15 they think) in a park in london who had been set on fire. So badly burned they don't even know whether the boy was black/white/asian... Hope the cops follow up what your bro told them as it sounds like the kids you mentioned found a victim in then end...

Just makes you wonder though, that if they hadn't gone out of their way to thieve something in the first place. The fact they got away with it when they pulled knives on you might tempt them to try this again...

It was the same incident. Very sad, my brother did say he saw what looked like the outline of a human body underneath some white sheets but wasn't sure if it was a dead body. Turns out it was. Killing is becoming so common it won't even be headline news anymore.
Apparently the boy was stabbed before being burnt.
Makes you sad
