Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle
Discussion
I remember watching 'This Morning With Richard Not Judy' on Sunday mornings back in the late 90's so I programmed Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle into the Sky+ a couple of weeks back.
I've just finished watching the 3rd instalment and I'm not finding it funny at all. The first one, where he discussed Chris Moyle's autobiograhy was faintly amusing but the one last week and the 3rd one last night were just rubbish.
It's always a little bit depressing when you appreciate a comedian's work only to find his later stuff isn't funny.
I was quite suprised to learn that Chris Morris worked on this (Comedy Vehicle) as a script editor, and Armando Iannucci is the producer.
Anyone else watched this & if so what are your thoughts?

Loved TMWRNJ back in the day.
Read the review of his Comedy Vehicle in Metro and it gave it high praise. Tuned in to the 2nd Episode... it was pitiful.
He almost had a point when he said about how Del Trotter falling through the bar in OF&H is nominated as the funniest thing in TV history but he went on and on and on... I know that was the point but even so... it was tiresome.
I recorded last nights episode and may watch it to see if it gets better.

ker now isn't he!?)

I was hoping he'd get stuck into PC last night, but he ended up taking the PC side, making cheap shots about the Royals and the usual leftie s
te that passes for comedy these days. Most unimpressed.
At this point I'd like to propose 'Simpo's Law', namely: 'The more often a new programme is trailered, the more crap it is.'

I think he is brilliant, the BBC2 stuff has been great so far.
I loved the piece about the rappers and so solid crew
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc2vQ6u6aGg&fea... That's just perfect.
One of my top comedians.

Same here - that was a great show... occasionally the phrases "Cat-Wee-Handed-Fool" and "....drink your weak lemon drink now!" still crop up in conversation. But I'm struggling with this one - I thought I'd broke my sense of humor. Esspecially last week - taking the piss out of 'Only Fools & Horses' and the bar sketch.

His bitterness actually seems more deep rooted than Mark Larmar's!

I read an article before the first episode that had Stuart Lee talking about how, by this show, he wanted to be seen as a relevant talented comedian in his own right in 2009, rather than being a well thought of memory of the 90's
Sadly, going by the first few episodes, all I see is that time has not been kind to him or his material, and he is just a fat shadow of himsel (that suit definitely is too small for you mate).
Nice try but we public are a cynical and honest bunch, so you can go back to appearing as a rent-a-commentator on "50 best comedy moments".

I thought it had some really good moments and a depth to the comedy you don't often see. Its articulate, accurate and I think quite challenging comedy. Last night for example
"I didn't want to put myself in a position to agree with something racist just to be polite"
"After all, I get enough of that when I go home at christmas"
Made me laugh anyway
