Where to buy a LHD 993
Discussion
How about buying my LHD UK registered 993 Turbo. Price is negotiable!

Cheapest 993 I've seen on www.mobile.de is for 18k, but it was a tippytronic and in white - not my thing really.
RSJ look like the experts, but not had a dealing with them. Henry at www.911virgin.com has a couple in at the moment - I like the silver C2 for 23k. Autofarm are very good, but a bit pricier.
Im in two minds about importing one of these. I've imported a couple of left hookers before and it costs you at least a grand or two more to do. In my mind, LHD prices are the same or only a grand higher over here, after some poor sap has dealt with importation.
I reckon RSJ sticker the cars up by 4k. If importing would cost you (as a punter) say 2k at worst, then you will only save 2k doing it yourself - less if you nudge them down on price a little. I think 22-23k is fair for an early LHD C2 with highish miles.
All in all, buying from RSJ would probably cost you a grand more. Believe me, finding, buying, arranging money and car collection, then registering etc. is more than a grand's worth of hassle.

Have you had any dealings yourself with 911virgin, I've seen there site (the silver C2 does look good)? Any advice re. where to buy insurance and warranty?
Henry at 911virgin is quite a character. He gets quite a good write up as he's knowledgable and pretty honest. However, he is also honest to the point of annoying you if you think your car is worth x and he says it is worth x minus five grand.
Also, he can be annoying when he has a fairly untidy car up for x and it doesn't tally with his own 'pricing'. His cars are always 'rare and sought after' and your p/x is always one with 'no demand'.
But he is a businessman after all!
Take him with a pinch of salt and he is worth dealing with. Some of his cars are a bit tatty because he doesn't always prepare them (I've seen lots of moss on bonnets before now!), and he flies a kite on a few sticker prices, but overall he is very good value and doesn't pretend his cars are something they aren't.
I think he only makes a small percentage on his cars, but turns over loads of them. Business wise his turnover was 4m quid, which is damn fine, so good on you Henry!
He also has a decent website that he can be arsed to update.
Insurance wise, try Nowell and Richards - they were the best when I had a Porsche. Also, join the PCGB as there are often decent deals if you are a club member. For warranties, if you buy well you shouldn't need one. Otherwise rely on the dealer you purchase from. If you really want an all singing all dancing warranty, only buy from an Official Porsche Dealer (entry about 28k for a 993) and pay for the warranty extensions on top of what you get. To be honest at a grand or two a year, I doubt they will be worth it on a 993. The only time you may need it is an engine rebuild or gearbox rebuild, and that will be a wear/tear item, like a leaking oil seal or whatever. And the chances are that may never happen anyway if it has fsh and is below 100k miles.

I wouldn't ignore a private purchase. I recently saw a 93k 964 Celebration (turbo body) 28k miles for £26K (included C4 CEL plate) in Porsche World. Even if you have to pay for an inspection you would have been quids in.
993's tend to have quite inflated prices in the private sector, in fact most independents offer good value relative to a private sale on this model.
When you consider that depreciation will be a lot better on a 964 (ok service more but on a good un shouldn't be a problem) they seem very good value.
They are very easy to tune to 993 bhp levels and beyond (Porsche choked them on purpose...) So what’s the point of my ramblings, save money on depreciation this year, and trade in next year for a 993tt
