What are the service intervals on a 2003 E320 CDi? Reason for asking is my Dad's car was last serviced in 2006 at 22k miles. Its now on 56k and its still telling us theres another 3000 miles to go. We've asked the Mercedes garage and they tell us to wait until the car tells us it needs doing. Obviously this is a very long time for a car not to be serviced (we bought it on 48k).

How come the car is still telling us theres 3k to go when it was serviced such a long time ago?

My mistake, it was actually last serviced at 34k miles, not 22k.

The long life oils used by Mercedes, BMW, VW etc live up to their names and can last over 20k as your dad's car is showing

The service interval on that car is 13,000 miles with oil of 229.5 spec or two years max, the car will indeed tell you within these parameters. The mileage is variable depending on how you drive. If the car was serviced over 2 years ago, and still it is saying you have a distance to go, the service clock has been reset somewhere. This will have cost you your Mobilo life membership as it is a requirement to service at least one in a 2 year period, to manufacturers spec.
