TYRES FOR Z3 M COUPE (17")

Does anyone remember what the dimensions of the tyres were for this car? The wheels look like they are wider for the rear.

225/45/17 (f) & 245/40/17 (r) but I found that 255/40/17 (r) was an improvement on grip, handling and adding a bit more protection of the 9" rear wheels

Cheers! I've been trying to read the casting marks on the inside of the wheels. As you say the back ones are wider with different offset arrangements but I make the widths 7.5 and 8 inches respectively. These wheels have got track day tyres on which are the same width on all corners but the rims are vulnerable as witnessed by various kerb marks.

If the wheels are the original "starfish" design, they are 7.5" front and 9" rear - which for the rear is a wide wheel for a 245 section tyre, hence my "upgrade" to 255/40/17 to offer more protection from curbing and more dry weather traction.

That is correct. 9" rear. Have a look on z3mcoupe for more info re 255 tyre sizes.
