I seem to remember someone on here had a design for a modification to the wiper arm making it follow the curvature better (anything must be an improvement to be honest!)

I did some preliminary design work on the system but when I saw the reference on here I decided to wait for the developments as daywork was v heavy at the time.

I tried searching but could not find it. Any news on this development?

Then again I could have dreamt it.

I seem to remember that too, however its been pointed out in the past the search facility on PH leaves a lot to be desired. It seems to have a limited search pattern, anything over a year and you are struggling. I seem to remember the keyword 'Pantograph' popping up in the posts you refer to but no keyword search patterns emerge in the Ultima section unfortunately.

Topic was also discussed in 2007.

The problem is the angle of the wiper shafts in relation to the windscreen.

It's a while since I've been a kid but thanks for the compliment anyway. wink
I should have my new wiper working by the end of this week. It's a prototype but it should work ok. I came up with several designs, some of them using a tilt mechanism for the pantograph and one doing away with the pantograph and just using a single arm. My first attempt is just to use a single arm that can be retrofitted to the standard Ultima setup. If it works ok then I'll post some pics next week.

Hi Dave await with interest. Tried various new blades and none helped. I have finally removed part of the wiper blade support to try and stop it from rubbing and scratching the screen. Anybody now if anything can be used to polish off scratches from glass.

Got me thinking - (not easy at my age!)

What do the Le Mans Bods use? Don't most of their cars sport similarly curved screens?

...and has anyone the possibility of using two wiper motors and arms?

I would have thought that by using two, the blade may have less of an overall curvature to cover, with the two meeting in the middle? It would however mean trying to find a suitable motor mechanism that could be adjusted for radius covered, and of course smaller arms. They would have to be parked at the flat (bottom of screen) position, and I guess there would be a large 'Vee' of unswept area in the middle of the screen...so..probably a 'cr@@p' thought after all....

Ahh well..... getmecoat

my friend came up with a simple design in cad that keeps the wiper at 90deg to the screen... hes not made it yet as he's been so busy although he did mention it to me a few weeks ago.

Frost do a "Windscreen Scratch Repair Kit" Basically a polishing pad/mop for your drill plus some polishing powder. It's one of their "best sellers" but costs £22.
