Hi Guys,

Need some advice with DVD editing. It is for father in law (read old boy not mega computer literate)

He wants to edit various bits of film and music together. What is the best machine or sotware to achieve this ? must be simple to use.

He has millions of old films (now on DVD) he wants to mix and match as well as recent Tv stuff.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

not cheap, but i would recommend adobe production suite. edit in premiere pro, add sound and export to adobe encore for dvd production. huge amount of forums and tutorials for support.

not easy to master at first and i would hasten to add that if he has a large amount of dvd'd and home movies to edit then they are likely to be in different file formats and video resolutions which will need a fair amount of competence to get onto a timeline to edit.

A copy of Cucusoft's suite and Windows Movie Maker should have this done on a budget

i'd recommend something like a macmini, and use imovie and idvd- very easy to use software. (id get him to an apple store to have a play though- apple's arent everyones cup of tea)

If he's got stuff on dvd, he'd need to rip them to the computer though- plenty of free programs out there for doing that
