Just seen on teletext that the 2004 BGTC may see the return of Listers, Saleens and Vipers.

Also, Stephane Ratel who has promoted the FIA and French GT championships will be in charge of the 2004 British F3 and GT championships.

Is this a good move I don't know. Came to enjoy the greater diversity and racing that went with the GTO and GTC - those GT runners that were there weren't in the same league as the Saleen so I don't know how I'll feel to see the S7R streets ahead of all the other entries. A Saleen, a VX220 and a Ginetta on the same track would certainly be different but don't know if it's good motorsport or how the 'smaller' teams will feel.

Discuss.

Cheers

This sucks!

The Championship was headed in a great direction with the smaller cars heading the way and the longer, proper endurance, length races. But now we have two one hour sprints.

Boring!

Its going to come down to how good the teams feel the value for money is - In terms of exposure, promotion, TV coverage - In all those regards Mr ratel has some persuading to do to reassure the GTO and cup teams that the big cars won't get all the good stuff!

But I dare say Lord Wheeler of Blackpool will not be re-entering the Speed 12!

Especially as the T440R's are available and are being promoted as their best car for racing.

Is the 12 still unsold ?

Last I heard....from the man himself @ CC in June....a buyer had agreed terms, paid the deposit of £50,000 but not completed the deal within the stipulated month....and TVR had not heard from him again!...so 50K in the bank for f.all....sigh...big sigh....Oh poor Lord Wheeler.

Then in Aug there was another interested party...I know or have heard nothing more.

What u say u Ted....got any more info ?

I have some info!

Neil Anderson did a lecture at my uni about TVR chassis design. Turned out that it was all about the sp12 race program.

He said that one Cerb speed 12 has been sold to a private buyer for track days and another is sat in the factory and they are "Currently Discussing a potential GT race program for next season with a private buyer".

Thank you!!

Now....I'm speaking as someone who enjoys the racing whilst being not so bright on the technicalities...

As I remember, the Saleens were way ahead in the field when they were racing in GT....just like the Moslers.

So....which should be the fastest car...the Saleen or the Mosler?

The Saleen is a GT class car, the Mosler (in current UK form) a GTO - So the Saleen should be far quicker
