please help cant get into e39 m5

Help, cant get into e39 m5 either with remote or with key, Had a problem last week with my battery going flat overnight, to cut a long story short I borrowed a new battery off a mate to see how things went, All worked well for 6 x days including a 420 mile round trip on tuesday! All good until car alarm goes off in middle of night, I switches it off with remote control without any problems, However come to use car today and remote wont work and even key in door wont work, Any help gratefully received.

The door should open if you use the key manually. IIRC there is quite a bit of resistance when you turn the key, but it does open. Otherwise, use the key to open the boot, again some resistance but feasible.

Thanks rassi but iv'e just tried that again and it definately wont open either the door or the boot.

i had a similar problem with my xjr.obviously we do not use the keys to enter the car.i sprayed wd 40 into the boot lock,left it for a while and it opened with the key

Unless the car has had a new ignition barrel fitted to at some point in it's life the the key you have should unlock the door, try as jasxjr suggested.

If your car has killed another battery after 400 plus miles you have a drain.
