Has anyone removed the 2 big resonators in the exhaust, a lot of the guys on the U.S. forums have done this. Meant to sound really good.

Have you seen this thread?

http://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-sl63-amg-sl65-a...

I remember seeing a post saying Hayward & Scott will do this and weld on flanges so the work is reversible for about £600??

Can't remember where I read it though and a quick search isn't coming up with much!!

Yes I saw that thread. There's a few guys who have done it in the U.S.

Apparently it reduces back pressure loosing you a few torques but i've read you can install something call an x-pipe which solves that problem. I don't want it too loud and i'm also concerned about my MB warranty.

did this ever get done on your car?

would be nice to give the SL and bit more burble when driving, i feel that the exhaust sound is far to restricted on such a brutal car....

I've had it done to my SL55 - well worth it, makes a nice subtle (but noticeable)difference....definitely worth doing this before considering any more extensive exhaust work if you're just after a little more rumble.
