Yup, much more difficult with the Xbox controller than a stick though - in the middle of building one since you can't get 'em without spending a fortune smile

Swapped it after a fortnight.

Terrible.

Graphics weren't very good, small fighting area (good job because of how slow the characters move) and just not as fluid as something like Soul Calibre

Goon.

Graphics are fantastic, all the characters look great with well defined features and lots of personality and the little ink strokes you get for things like Focus Attacks are a nice touch. Fighting arenas are the perfect size for the game, I have no idea why you'd want it any bigger as it's a fighting game, not a shootout, therefore the trading of punches and kicks is the order of the day and you kind of have to be close to do that.

I'd say it's a damn site more fluid than Soul Calibur but a button-masher is never going to win in this, it will take lots of practise, but the pay-off is more than worth it.

I've clocked up around 30 hours on it myself so far, lots of that online where everyone seems to pick Ken. I did order one of the Saturn-style fight pads for it though, which I'm very happy with as neither the PS3 or XBox pad is ideal, plus I grew up using the Megadrive and Saturn pads meaning I'd be useless with a joystick.

Hmmmm Got to disagree, I thought it was O.K but it annoyed me that in a game with such a limited playing world the graphics were below average. I mean compared to something like CoD4 or GTA4 were they model massive maps with great graphics and detail it just look shockingly dated. It didn't even look as good as the aforementioed Soul Calibur that was on a two generation previous console and is what, 8-9 years old now.

I was expecting it to blow me away but it just dissapointed.

Fighting was the usual SF and rewards skill, but give me Soul Calibur or Virtua Fighter any day.

Have to disagree. Even though I'm no expert on Street fighter. The have got the mix just right in my opinion. A game that will be played for many years to come..

I really don't understand how anyone can say the graphics are awful, they're not realistic because they're not designed to be, what they are is intricately drawn cartoons that ooze character and personality. There is enough going on in the backgrounds alone for anyone watching to be entertained without the fighters even being there, combine that with the lavish detail on every nuance of the characters and you've got a truly stunning game.

exactly, it is done in manga cartoon style, they are beefy looking and butch characters. and its great.

Highly stylised, so they wont date - unlike SC or any game doing what the current generation of consoles can manage for "realistic" graphics, which will look rubbish in 3 years time.

I thought the gfx could have been much better, some of the textures are very dodgy (see the very jagged shading / pattern on the arms etc).

When the camera zooms in it really high lights how poor it looks at times.

You want great manga styling. . . . see naruto: ultimate ninja warrior . . . sure it's very easy but damn it looks good!

You say they will 'look rubbish in 3 years time' but Soul Calibur is nearly a decade old now and still looks awesome, that is the mark of truly great graphics.

I know that SF is more stylised and Manga but as mentioned the textures are often poor and the edges very jagged and pixelated. It just doesn't look properly finished or polished.

Had a first go on this last night on the XBox360.

It's identical to Streetfighter2 so that I picked it up pretty quickly. Could do a few special moves from the start which was ace.

Problems...

- Really struggling with some combos... eg Guiles 3kick Flashkick. How the fook do you do the 3x kicks at the end of combo? I can do 2x but however fast I tap kick it doesn't work?

- I'm finding it hard to know 'where' I am in the game. In singleplayer do you just pick a character, fight through until Seth (only played with Guile so far), then that's 'Guile-medium' finished for example?

I love COD4 in that I can view Barracks and easily see my stats and how far I'm into the game.

Other than the initial confusion with the above points and RTFM moments, its a superb game and essential for anyone who grew up playing fight games on the SNES etc.

Right Rico.

First off, 3 x kick does not mean press kick three times quickly, it means press all three kick buttons at once, this is usually set to one of the shoulder buttons, so you don't have to contort yourself into pressing all three with seperate fingers.

Arcade mode you pick a fighter, fight through til Seth and then that's it. The difficulty level you pick will determine how tough the opposition is. You'll need to play through as all characters to unlock everything and meet a few special criteria along the way in order to unlock the secret characters.

There are also the challenge modes which will give you set challenges like beating people within a certain amount of time, or surviving with one health bar over a number of fights. This is also where you'll find the trial mode where you can get to grips with all the character's moves and advanced combos.

Probably be when you have your super bar filled and you'll be pulling off a super move rather than an ultra.

For example, Ryu's super move and ultra move are both fireballs and both are done by doing two quarter circle motions, if you've got a full ultra and a full super bar, then the button(s) you press next will determine whether you get a super or an ultra, so 2 x Quarter circles forward and then a single punch will do your super, but 2 x Quarter circles forward and all three punches will do his ultra.

indeed but i have definately pulled off ultra`s with that method as the ultra bar reduces afterwards.

Sounds really odd, are you sure you've not caught the 3x punch or kick button, or jabbed at all three buttons by mistake?
