I've decided.

E36 M3, manual, not sure what engine yet.

However, its got to be a coupé, and its got to be black. You know, like what I've already got.

Strange I know, but I love the colour.

Anyhoo: I've this idea...

I really really want a cream leather interior, and I love the standard sports seats I've got in mine. I also love the BBS wheels on the Sports. I don't particularly like any of the M3 wheels soooo...

Would it be wrong if I refurb'd my BBS wheels and ran them on an M3, and then plonk the 316i badge on the back (again?).

Also, would it be wrong if I swapped out the seating if I struggled to find a cream interior M3?

Either way, your views chaps biggrin

Heh.

I don't think it would be wrong if it's what you want.

I'm not a big fan of the factory fit dirty-six M-wheels (other than the "sunflowers") So I'd be all for some lighter, more stealthy alternatives.

Black is an understandable choice but seems to me to be slightly more common on the 3.0s. I may be imagining it though.

Having said that, I'd not want to exclude cars in good condition on the basis of whether they match my jacket lining. But it's important to have the right colour for you I guess.

I'm not a big fan of Estoril (hackneyed) but otherwise the M3 came in a limited selection of fairly decent, "serious business" colours, with only a couple of so-so options (including almost the entire BMW-individual set, ugh).

As for the interior, whatever floats your boat. It's easier to change than the exterior colour, that's for sure!

P.S. No-one would be fooled by a 316 badge when they hear it - better to go for the more plausible option of "320i". Not much faster than a 1.6 in real terms anyway hehe

The only other colour that I really like on the coupe is the dark green colour - seems to really suit it.

With diamond cut BBS's properly refurb'd, it'd set it off perfectly.

I like the idea of M3 capability, but with the feeling I can roll up to a respectable hotel and not get sniffed at, ala that 'business' look...

I see where you're going with the 320 vibe, but seriously, the 316i badge works best on TDi driving reps, it really winds them up (p.s. the 328 is loud as well so I'm used to it giving the game away) hehe

Seems to me that you are looking for a 3.0 M3 GT to me.

I like the BBS rims your 328 wears too, however they are not "M" enough if that makes any sense. I do have a lot of time for the 316 badge though hehe

hehe

Discretion and (relative) stealth are two of the most attractive features of M-saloons in my opinion, next to the "slightly brisk" performance. It's all good smile

Now I've got to decide whether I continue with a project I have planned or if I just abandon it and get an E39 / E36 / E34.... Decisions, decisions....
