Thought I’d write a few words on the excellent service I’ve just received from Jason and the guys at Str8Six.

After a year of ownership, the Cerb was due a “big” service (i.e. including tappet adjustment) and having been up to see Jason and discuss over the ‘phone and via email exactly what I was getting for my money (that and the fact he offered local collection and delivery) they seemed as good an option as any.

After a couple of days I got the dreaded “we’ve found a few things” call, so I popped in for a chat and went through the list and discussed which (if any) were important, which I felt I could do myself, and a few no-brainers that I wanted them to do. Again, they followed this through via email and priced out each option.

The car was delivered back after it’s post service road test, and certainly based on the two things they have corrected (wheel alignment/camber and some seriously bad opening dimensions on the tappets) it’s a different car.

What I’m rambling towards here is the fact that as a TVR owner of 7 years, having used several people to look after my cars, this is the first time I’ve felt compelled to let people know what a top service I’ve had.

What I was most grateful for was the obvious knowledge and passion Jason has towards TVR’s, along with his patience when dealing with me ! I’ll certainly be heading back there in a year.

Mike

(NB; I have no connection with this company whatsoever, in case anyone thinks I’m Jason’s (better looking) brother)

Good to know. I was just wavering as to whether or not to take the T350 to these guys for a service...

Along with Jason's helpful & informative nature on the phone today, I think you've just swung it in their favour. wink

Based on some of the nice cars he had in last week, your T350 will be in good company.

It's always a tough call recommending poeple to someone, but in this case I've nothing to suggest you shouldn't book it in there.

I agree with everything you have said.
Jason has done my rebuild, upgraded my throttle bodies and a few other things and always been clear and informative, not to mention knowledgeable.
Your car is in safe hands with Jason.

I also have to agree that Jason and the guys at str8six do a good job.

I got Jason to inspect my Griff before I purchased it and as it was also due for its 12k service to do that as well. He went through the whole car with a fine tooth comb came up with a list of things that needed to be done.

I got the car delivered straight to him after purchasing it and he showed me the things that needed fixing like the wishbone bushes and the like.

Picked up the car when it was done and as I'm new to TVR's he ran through everything with me.

Very happy person smile

He has a customers lovely supercharged Sag there at the moment, very nice!

Going to str8 six on Saturday for some advice. Jason sounds like he knows what he is doing over the phone.

i too would have to agree and give jason a big thumbup he rebuilt my engine when he was at henley and has looked after my car ever since, he also spotted things that needed looking at like others here, and its not him fishing for work, one thing he found on mine, dispite the car having regular services with others, was that the suspension geometry/tracking had not been adjusted in years as the nuts had rusted solid yikes

I'll jump on the band wagon as well then.
My cars with Jason at the moment getting a 4ltr rebuild, some chassis treatment, new brakes and suspension, and I have to agree with all the comments on here. With Jason you never once think he is fishing for work. His manner on both the phone and in person is second to none. His obvious knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for TVR's is clear after speaking to him for only a few minutes.

I think the best compliment to him is that I've sent my car over 260 miles to be worked on by STR8SIX, when there were lots of other TVR specialists a lot closer. I only wish I lived closer as a 520 mile round trip for a service is a little extreme.

Obviously Jason is well known in the TVR Circles, and always gets a good report. But it's good to here the reasons why he gets good reports.

I always begrudgingly pay for some work to be done on my cars, I do most of it myself, but there's always something that you need to take it to the specialists for once in a while, either because you don't have the specialist tools, or you need to get the car six feet in the air to do the job (Clutch etc). The company I use know that I do alot of the work myself, and always ask me first if I want them to do it, or I can do it myself.

This is good practice on the part of the garages. And gets respect from the customers. Always worth letting our specialist know that you are capable of doing everyday task's yourself though, or they might just assume that you want them to do everything, and do it.

Went to see my car at Str8 6 yesterday. it has had a body off, outrigger replacement, and replacing of all metalwork that was corroded, and heatshield. I have to say the work done to the car is impressive, chassis is as new, and now wating for the 12k service to complete the job. Thumbs up for Jason so far, and im sure when i get my car back from the service it will be as fresh as day one!

I have no doubts at all about Jason's workmanship or business. It’s by no means the nearest place to me, but he really sets the standard for knowledge, honesty and helpfulness. It is however an absolute pain to get to via public transport.

My S is getting collected by str8six tomorrow for a full service.

Hoping a proper service of this degree will sort some little gremlins and that they won't find any expensive issues!

Well, I've just returned (last week) from my Str8Six experience & I have to say I couldn't be more impressed. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful & friendly, the service was second to none. Jason & Justin(?) (Sorry, terrible memory) took 2 hours out of their obviously very busy day to take me on a tour of my car - inside, out & underneath. They then made me a very nice cup of tea & spent another hour chatting about all things TVR!

Apart from the stuff that was pointed out to me on the day, Jason found a few minor niggles with the car - phoning & explaining to me every step of the way, checking for approval to carry out the work - a courtesy never extended to me anywhere before. The car drives & sounds beautiful & the peace of mind from having every little niggle sorted is absolutely wonderful! Pity I curbed my front ns wheel parking in London on the way home, d'oh!

smithyl23 - Your car had just been finished as I arrived, my first reaction when they started her up to get her off the ramps was, "Why doesn't mine sound like that???!!!" eeklick I hadn't realised the work you had had done until Jason explained it to me. laugh You must be well chuffed! I'm green with envy *starts desperately saving up*... & Graham's orange Sag... What can I say, stunning hardly covers it.

So... An 1,800 mile round trip for a service, was it worth it? Without a doubt, yes. Str8Six have earned another loyal customer here. thumbup

Mr Heathen, hopefully you saw my little blue S there smile

I've also been impressed so far. The service has taken longer than I expected due to a damper requiring rebuild (AVO turnaround was around 7 days) and a small hole found in the radiator during final post-service testing. Both these issues weren't spotted by previous mechanics - and I'm convinced they were both there to be found.

Jason has kept me informed every few days by phone as I've not been able to get there myself due to work commitments. I have never felt rushed or second class due to my Tiv being an S.

Looking forward to getting the car back driving

Jason also did my rebuild. Because I'm very far away I took the engine out myself and sent it to him in a wooden box. After three weeks I got the engine back. Really great work and a lot of help and support from him after the rebuild. Both thumbs up thumbupthumbup

I'm pleased with the sound to say the least. Tvr power exhausts were one of the best modifications I've had done to her. The new suspension and sagaris brakes are incredible, i'm 500 miles into running her in and can't wait to start exploring the higher rpm's, with the 3.73 diff it should be fairly nippy.
