Roll Cage - where to mount?
Discussion
I'm looking at having a motorsport cage fitted to my S1 - I have seen other threads and a number of others seem interested in cages (at least the rear part)- I'm actually fitting a full cage. There is a cage manufacturer nearby and will be talking to them next week.
I think there are 2 way to have the rear hoop located - 1. to the mount where the inertia reel would fit (I will be renewing that chassis fabrication anywat as it has rusted) 2. to where the existing seatbelt mount at shoulder height - removing the existing upstand and extending the chassis probably from the upper suspension mount up to the underside of the body and bolt though.
I'm going to use 4/5 point harnesses so don't need the original belts or mounts.
Your thoughts please

Mine has a rollbar. When you say cage, do you mean you'll have side, floor and windscreen tubes?
Mine is a rollcentre hoop with two rear braces, installed by Tower View.
Perhaps have a talk to them?

Their site shows a diagram of the mounting points for the similar Wedge rollbar:

Thought Tower View were no more
this is the road I went down a little while back, Tower View no longer in London but guy is still trading and could supply rear roll bar, but I considered a little expensive for a bit of bent pipe and couple of brackets ( yes, I know all about jigs and tooling costs and limited market etc. etc.) !
