What S do you have? I'm very interested in the 2.9 as i'm only 26 so insurance and running costs are a factor, I'm very handy with a set of spanners and my next car will be my 18th so i'm up for anything that needs work, i just want to get on the TVR ladder so to speak lol.

"as i'm only 26 so insurance and running costs are a factor"
I got my S aged 22 with 3points - Hagerty sorted me an unbelievable deal fully comp for under £200. Can't recommend them highly enough! And any running costs associated with the little fella's tendency to guzzle the fuel (when gently encouraged) are highly worth it!

I was 24 when I got mine (last year, I'm hardly an old man now at 25) and it costs less than my 1.6 Focus to run, albeit for a limited mileage.I got my S aged 22 with 3points - Hagerty sorted me an unbelievable deal fully comp for under £200. It's even pretty good on fuel given the abuse it's subjected to. I know one PHer who has one along with an MX5 and the TVR actually returns better MPG in brisk road use!

I'm on the "other side of The Water" in downtown Uppingham What S do you have? I have the 2.9 in my S2 but as Dave mentioned it's not completely standard as it has a couple of performance/suspension mods and a roll bar. If you want to take a look feel free to email me through my profile. Not that it is for sale of course, I have a kidney that will be sold before the car

Cheers,
Longers

In the long run it will be better to spend up front than to rebuild - take it from someone who is doing the latter - and I enjoy doing the work and learning, but still occassionally wish I'd looked longer and bought a "sorted" car in the first placemep12345 said:

As I said on another thread over the weekend though in hindsight I would have gone for a full shot blast and re-coat rather than do it the hardway had I realised how (relatively) cheap it would have been. You live and learn.
Appreciate your comments about confidence in what is underneath as well

Hi, I just don't think i would leave a sorted car in one piece for very long as it would bug me not knowing what's underneath! lol.

I have no idea what you mean rob

i think your paying for two things when you restore 1= a tidy finish 2= piece of mind.

Well, only just got in
Rob, I'll lend your O/H some old road test articles and the like tomorrow as I'm borrowing a desk over there, they may be of interest.
Barkychoc's threads are likely to be of interest to you (restoration project as you may have gathered), he will be at S Club in his restored car (I hope
).
