Has anyone had one fitted, do they take up all the rear storage area, are they a pain, do you have any photos, I like the sound of the tower view (rollcentre?) one but im a bit worried it might look too narrow.
If you have had one fitted have you noticed any increased stiffness in the chassis?

Watch the headroom that it takes up, especially if you are anything like me - short legs, long body. also think about the extra space you will need if you do track days and wear helmets.

thats why i was thinking the tower view jobby as it monts a bit further back than the others

you got it fitted yet, whats it like...
you got any good photos, pref from a short distance. the tvrs piccies dont really show what it looks like with the whole of the car..

No they don't take up too much space so you can still dump stuff on the rear parcel shelf. It does stiffen the chassis. As for looking good on the car... what is the definition of looking good? They can do custom finishes but as they don't add to the car's performance or make it any safer, mine is left plain black.
I'll see if I have a full picture somewhere...

I saw Jon's (jellison's) Chimaera yesterday at Castle Combe and the roll bar looks really good.
I can see where Steve is coming from on colour, but Jon had spent extra to have it painted to a matching colour to the car's interior, and I have to say that it did make the roll bar less visually intrustive and might be considered worth the extra money, if not for one's own tastes then at re-sale.
The bar itself does rob you of some rear vision, but it did look very sturdy and compact and I think its very likely that it's high quality Cold Drawn Steel Tubing because I couldn't detect any ridges or weld lines when I ran my fingers over it.
As soon as finances allow I'll be booking my Chimaera in for one.

Cage is Reall Good in my opinion - anyone even thinking of driving fast should have one (have seen alot of nasty crashes at track where either a cage save a life or a lack of a good one caused worse injures than could have been avoided - one in my TR4 ins like a tank). Rollcentre / Tower Cage is a bit narrow - but it is the only way to get it in on the later cars mounting points and clear the hood. It is FIA approved steel. I have my seat raised 1/2" at the back (not front as well) so as JonRB said visibibly
far off down the road is worse - 100 yard ok - but with seat in norm position this worn be better - but it is all a compromise - It does look HARD as Well!!!

try david gerald in inkberrow they have a full cage fitted to their racing griff
A bit impractical as they had to remove the dash and the roof, the seats were replaced with race versions and so on...
If you are worried about side impact get a Cerbera or Tuscan. Both come with side impact and the Cerbie has a full roll cage. GRP is incredibly good at absorbing energy anyway. Fitting a full cage with additional side impact and basically all the interior trim gets cut to do it. Probably does nothing to the car's resale but I doubt I'll ever sell it or that anyone would want it!
