Fitted my starter motor last night and wanted to check she woult turn over on the key before I started assembling all the other engine ancillaries.

Once I put the thingy on the immobiliser there a strange buzzing noise (the light on the immob goes off) turing the key did preduce a few clicks from the starter but nothing else. The strange buzzing goes when the immobiliser light starts flashing again (about 20 seconds after deactivating).

I will make sure my batteries tip top and chassis earths are good. Any other checks I can make, temped to put a screwdriver across teh starter terminals to check it spins up, but I don't like sparks!

Have you still got the notorious Yellow Connector under the Steering Column Mike ? and if so is it in good condition, if not has the replacement or repair been good ?

Has the engine been cranked over by hand or has it been running recently? I'm getting the impression your car has not moved for a while ? just to make sure its free before you put a load on your starter motor...

K wink

Will check I get 12v on small connector on the starter when I turn the key.
Yellow connector has been replaced by a very nice looking grey one, the wiring is very tidy in my car and everything has been done to a good standard.
Probably the earth from engine to chassis.
Will spin the engine by hand tonight.
Didn't know what the strange buzzing was when I deactivated the immob, I suppose because I haven't got everything connected back up yet there are some circuits not doing the right things, but as the starter cicuit is simple I wanted to check that was good before moving forward.
Cheers

Well I managed to get the engine to turn over on the key.
The only remaining issue is, it sounds like the solenoid is constantly going back and forth while the engine is cranking. I've tried swapping the smaller connections round on the starter one way round works with the above issues the other way round nothing happens.

Theres a green relay near the washer bottle that seems to click away also.
Any thoughts or shall I leave it until I have fully plugged everything back in.
