Tried to undo the clutch master cylinder cap last night but it's not moving under hand pressure. I'm assuming it's a twist off cap like the brake reservoir. Before I apply a little more force with some adjustable plumbing pliers can anyone confirm that it is twist off cap?

Cheers

Yes it is a twist off one.
I checked the level in mine last night and needed adjustable plumbing pliers to remove it!

I tightened a fraction before undoing. ~ seemed to do the trick.

The adjustable plumping wrench thingy is a key tool to get this cap undone. Its what I use everytime and along with the mole grips its a must have tool to adorn any tool kit

a piece of fan belt or similar will grip the cap but not mark it.

Hmmmmmm.....

used the plumbers pliers to remove the cap and found it falling apart before my eyes.

The outer cap cover was flaking away all round the rim but I managed to clean the actual cap up quite a bit. A quick wire brushing and coating of the threads with vaseline in the cap and on the cylinder seems to have done the trick.

Now for the bleeding!

Replacement metal caps are available, but the plastic versions (which don't fall apart) are much better.
