Mayhem to break loose in Wimbledon this Sunday

If you're ever curious where all the Mk II Granadas went to overnight then get yourself down to Wimbledon this Sunday for the Banger World Championship!

Spedeworth International will host the biggest night of the year for the National Bangers with the 2003 Championship of the World. The event, open to unlimited over 1800cc bangers, draws the biggest names from the banger racing world to Plough Lane to compete for the prestigious title.

If you've not been to banger racing then there's no better meeting to attend than this annual event. Big cars and plenty of big smashes.

The pre-race entertainment, including a Mini stunt show that will bring back memories of the Italian Job, gets underway at 5.pm and the racing starts promptly at 6pm.  Adult tickets are £14 with kids and senior citizens £7.00.

I used to be at Wimbledon every week....Hot Rods,Stocks,Super Stocks....

We used to race in the Stock Saloons that shared the evening with bangers. Used to race at Wimbledon, Aldershot, Arlington and Ipswich (got a 3rd in the UK Championship there). Those were the days alright!

Brings a smile to my face just thinking about it, I must tell the story one day of our pits tussle with the then world champion and his mechanics and what happened on the circuit shortly after during the final
