PS3 "Lag"

My two nephews came round today and were playing COD4 on the PS3 and told me I had "lag". They did not know how I could fix it and I was wondering if you guys had come across this. I use Sky for my broadband

How fast is your broadband connection? And do you have the PS3 hooked up wirelessly or via a cable. Cable is the best option, but mine is wireless and is fine without lag.

But if your connection is slow it won't help things too much.

What is the minimum speed for a good connection online? I have to sort out my own internet from september, and I don't want to end up with internet which is unplayable online on my PS3.

To check your broadband speed goto www.speedtest.net

For info I have a really crap internet connection 495 kb/s download and 203 kb/s upload. I can play online no probs with the only noticeable lag or drop off in connection during peak times.

I gave up with the wireless router after experiencing ongoing connection problems. I ended up buying a set of homeplugs which, touch wood, have been fine.

Speed isn't a big deal for games usually (unless your using an ancient 14.4k modem or something). It's latency which is the be-all-and-end-all of FPS games.
