New Expansion Tank/Swirl Chamber Tops
Discussion
Hello everybody,
I am really excited about getting the TVR out again - just had an MOT and needed new disks and pads. Have sorted an earlier overheating problem with a new thermostat and all is well. I have looked back over previous threads about overheating and replaced the swirl chamber top with a new seal from an inner tube and all is well. I am planning a trip over to The Netherlands to see the In Laws and wanted to change both caps over to purpose built jobs - do these exist and from which make of car or is it better to go down the 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' route?
Cheers

It is like the famous Eagle lyrics in 'Hotel California' when they said '.....you can check out any time but you can never leave......'!
Was back for final period of R&R but I will be home for good in 3 weeks so I am planning ahead to try and make sure we are in tip top condition for a little trip across the channel (apart from the rust that I need to square away!).

Hi Daniel
do a search for Pressure + Cap on the S series forum and you will see loads
also look at the alternative parts list for numbers.
basically you want a 15LB pressure cap on the swirl tank (off a mini I think) Halfrauds sell these but without the seal washer which you will find in one of the adjacent boxes on the shelf - obviously been mispacked
on the Expansion Tank you will need a "solid" cap (stands back and waits for the old argument to rumble back to life)
take your old ones with you to be sure
K
ETA: heres a thread from the FAQ's - maybe we should update the FAQ with the latest thinking ?

I have recently got a Pressure cap from TVR Car Parts and it comes complete with seals. TVR Car Parts Pressure Cap Klicky
It does have '13' stamped on it though, so I am presuming it operates at 13lb. It has been fitted for a few weeks now with no problem. However, the weather has not been particularly warm; the test will be summer
