Can someone please stop the world, I want to get off. Why is it that hardly a day goes by without there being conflict or threats somewhere if it aint the middle east, then its Asia and don't even get me started on Africa.

I don't think that now's a good time to let the chinessee think that they can push people around and do what they like in internally waters!

It's all just posturing anyway.

"A potential conflict was brewing last night in the South China Sea after President Obama dispatched heavily armed American destroyers to the scene of a naval standoff between the US and China at the weekend."

Quick, someone call Pierce Brosnan and Michelle Yeoh!

There's your problem:

I think I know what you mean, but the Yanks just can't help themselves...in fact f**k em, let them fight with whoever they want, as long as we can stay at home and watch on TV, I couldn't give two hoots....but as this government seems permantly lodged somewhere warm and sticky, I realise that we'd be drafted in as 'allies'.................

That's how I read it too... anyway, if its in international waters, surely the Chinese boats have a right to park where they want too, without being hosed?

Its the Chinese testing the US administration. They did a very similar thing when Bush took office:

They pulled the aircraft to bits to see what was in it.

The waters concerned are not Chinese, in fact 5 different countries lay claim to them. China has always had a twig up it's arse about this
