Just ended up booking a weekend here for Mrs BP and myself via lastminute top secret deals. Anybody know anything about the hotel and any decent restaurants/bars in the surrounding area. Its been a long time since the Mrs and I have been in London together so any recommendations would be much appreciated. Except for recommendations about Oxo towers, as I can point out were married, so that ended a long time ago wink

No.1 Lombard St? = very nice bar/restaurant, though frequented by rahs in suits and suitably pricey.

If you are staying over the weekend, at least you will get a good nights sleep as the City is as dead as a dodo over the weekend.

Fortunately, the tube is a couple of minutes walk and it's ony a couple of stops into the west end, where you will find more bars and restaurants than you can shake a stick at.

Lcally, you have got London Dungeons, HMS Belfast and St. pauls. Food wise, there is Rhodes in Tower 42

Tower 42 (the old NatWest Tower) also has the top-floor bar Vertigo, though you need to book this in advance = great views with your beer smile

Thanks guys, that bar vertigo sounds like a good idea. I'll give that a call.

Think were just going to be eating drinking and catching a few museums, try and avoid the overly touristy stuff.

Coq D'argent is a nice gimmick as well, if the weather is nice that is... Not sure if it is open on the weekends though.

And not forgetting Bonds Restaurant underneath. You will find the link to Bonds on your original link. Really nice fine dining restaurant. I take some clients there regularly who originally recommended to me.

I cannot recommend that hotel enough! We went for my 18th birthday and had a suite (which are very cheap at weekends) the service and suite is truly 5* and I have stayed at other places with 5*'s that do not come close to this hotel.

It has a magnificent entrance hall as well with this huge rug and big glass dome roof that is very impressive. The suites all have huge balconies as well and I mean huge!!!

But yeah at the weekend the city is dead, good for a hoon but not a trip with the gf. Some nice restaurants nearby but nightlife is a taxi away.

Fab hotel though!

It's actually not too bad for walking distance from the city- good bars etc at Liverpool St and Farringdon both of which are a walk away, also check out Club Gascon for decent food.

Also Brick Lane is quite close-by for curries in the evening and the Sunday morning market. I recall buying a nice leather jacket from a shop near there for not very much money some time a go.
