This is a rant....sorry.

I can not belive some people.

I have just had a call from a stupid woman who asks to speak to someone I have never heard of.

ME Never heard of him sorry.

HER He works in your Manchester office.

ME Oh right, you are through to our North East office.

HER Yes, I want to speak to him.

ME He works in Manchester - this is the North East office.

HER So what you are saying is that the North East doesn't cover Manchester? I went on your website and it gives various locations, North East, Scotland, Midlands, North West.

ME You should have run the North West office.

HER Why would they cover Manchester?

Times are hard - she might have been a client so I politiely explained the difference instead of telling her to fk off.

Her response was less than understanding. Apparently it was my fault she didn't know Manchester was in the North West.

I get so annoyed at people (Mainly London based I have to say) who don't have a fking clue about the world outside of the M25. Its not as if we live in a big country. You could fit us all into some US states.

Give me strength...

NE/NW, its so skinny up there it should just be called 'the North'. Or southern Scotland.

The reason that we Londoners are not au fait with the location of other towns in Britain is that, for the most part, the rest of the country is a total irrelevance.

Sorry I've just got back from chasing the whippet round the disused industrial wasteland.

Talking about the coutry being skinny Ooop North brings back another memory.

Another silly bint who wanted me to do something in Leeds....I explained it was not our area and she said she was looking on a map and it only "Like about half a finger away."

I can actually appreciate - having lives and worked down south - how distant the North Seems...However I like to think I have a general working knowledge of the rest of the UK. I know where truro is, that Ashford isn't near Barnstable that Worthing won't be near Tamworth etc etc.

Probably right...a lack of interest...

almost as good as the BBC the other week,

Heading: "Heaviest Snowfall occurs in East Anglia"

Article: "The heaviest snowfall was reported in <somewhere> in Buckinghamshire..."

This reminds me of one of my mates. He became exteremly 'London-centric' after going to uni there and didn't really acknowledge a world outside the big smoke. I was living in Newcastle at the time and got a call from him one evening asking if I fancied meeting for a pint as he's "up north" on business. Turns out he was in Manchester a mere 170 miles down the road smile

Just so you know; London, Manchester, and Newcastle are all cities, not towns.

No, that's not a rant, I'm afraid. No swearing, no numeracy (apart from M25 which doesn't count), no name calling. Poor

1.5/10.

Agree with the sentiments though, the M25 acts like a hedge to some people.

You can add 2 points for memory if you like wink

Editted to add a bracket that I forgot and the 2 bonus memory points.
