Robbing government? You think that is bad, try importing a Skyline GT-R into the states, and see the costs stack up. It's crimial (lol).

Why would you want a Skyline in the States when you can buy a Corvette?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Skyline, especially the R34 V-Spec but if I lived in the US I would buy a Corvette......come to think of it wherever I lived I would buy a Corvette!

So would I but tying a 3 year old child to a skateboard and towing it behind the Vette is a sacrifice too far. LOL.

On the other hand, if it was a Z06....

Try getting a Greyhound in a Z06!!

Did it once in an emergency, but never again. He kept getting his nose between the gearstick and the ashtray, so I could only use 2nd,4th & 6th.

It was a nightmare afterwards getting all of the white hairs off of the black carpets!

I am allergic to children hence the 2 seater car!

Ah, you should have started with a whippet and gradually moved up to a greyhound.

I don't mind children in my back seat (provided they're one of my own)but they're not allowed anything sticky and definitely no animals. This may change if and when I buy my Vette and pass my Camaro to my fiancee to replace her Astra (good car but not as reliable as the Camaro).

The "Why have a Skyline when you can have a Corvette?" question is a very good point. Especially when, in USA, the R34 GT-R (VS or VS2) costs $100k (thanks to all the importing and conversion costs, as well as the costs to the government).

For half the price, the Vette does everything the GT-R can do, but better.

The GT-R only wins on the interior (R34 has cool MFD USP, and a few little extra gadgets, but then the Vette has its gadgets as well). This is comparing toys, nothing else. Aesthetics = GT-R, ergonomics = GT-R and Vette, component choice = GT-R and Vette. That is the only place the GT-R edges out the Vette.

That and racing in certain conditions, such as the rain (Super ATTESSA ETS Pro and Super HICAS Pro helps out here). But then if the Vette driver is competent enough, he/she might be able to put up a fight.

Tuneability, Vette wins hands down, withs its strong powertrain (engine, transmission), and awesome power potential. But GT-Rs are awesomely tuneable, too.

Handling = Vette. GT-R does well.

You get the idea...
For a lot less (1/2 price), the Vette is just as competent, if not more competent (and it is certainly more competent in a straight line), then the GT-R.

It is funny that this topic about seating children (not the GT-R/Vette comparison) has been raised, because there was a thread on z06vette.com about getting more than 2 people in a Z06.

The Government should introduce Child Cameras not Speed Cameras. Anyone with badly behaved or noisy children should be fined and have their child license endorsed.....

Why do you pay more tax if you don't have kids than if you do ?? I'm sure that should be the other way around (not using schools etc)

Quite agree. We generate less rubbish then a family with kids. I also rarely use the NHS yet I get charged more tax (no family credit here).
I like you don't have a need for schools yet I pay for them.

The government should change the tax laws so that you are taxed based on the number of children you have, plus a basic rate for everybody else. They should also tax the sick! Oh....and the old!

And the homeless. Also criminals.

I'm a fascist - well I've been told that by many people. But it is true. Homeless people are people who have never done an honest days work, play about at school, are alkies, scrape through life, commit criminal activities, mix with the wrong crowd - and yet the get flipping benefits, which we have to pay for! They deserve to be homeless. People who work hard, are honest, like the people on this board, should be rewarded with less tax as a reward for their hard work and effort, and the homeless should have more tax. Tax should be regressive, not progressive! And I don't know why people stick up for these twats. I'm also quite ruthless. But I like the fascist/ruthless bit of me.

...and as for libraries, have you been to you local library ? the books are just so up to date. The most upto date computer books you will find are pre windows 3.1. Most look like they are pre MS-Dos !!!

Homeless people are not always homeless either. There is a guy that looks homeless in Tunbridge Wells. Spends the early afternoon begging with his 'poor' dog. Then 'after a hard days work' , returns home to his house that just happens to be over the road to a site a sometimes cover. Mind you, he's not stupid they say beggars can earn around £500 a day. That's tax free remember. Then add on unemployment benefit, housing allowance etc etc..

When I was made redundant a couple of years back, I was entitled to bugger all because of what Kerensa earned. All those years of paying loads of tax for about £30 a week and like you Nige, never been to hospital and if I had to it would be BUPA. Don't go to the docs as she can't speak English and is only open when we are all at work anyway.

Moan Moan moan moan moan......................

Don't forget the CSA! You get taxed at 40% to pay for all the dole fodder's sprawling family of worthless thieving kids but your taxes don't pay for your own kids, you pay for those separately and at a premium rate. Yay!
